“Poets have tried to describe Ankh-Morpork. They have failed. Perhaps it’s the sheer zestful vitality of the place, or maybe it’s just that a city with a million inhabitants and no sewers is rather robust for poets, who prefer daffodils and no wonder. So let’s just say that Ankh-Morpork is as full of life as an old cheese on a hot day, as loud as a curse in a cathedral, as bright as an oil slick, as colourful as a bruise and as full of activity, industry, bustle, and sheer exuberant busyness as a dead dog on a termite mound.”
–Mort
Based on Sir Terry Pratchett’s beloved fantasy series, Adventures in Ankh-Morpork is the officially licensed Discworld tabletop roleplaying game. Set in the series’ most enthusiastically self-interested city, Adventures in Ank-Morpork invites you to tell stories where heroism, bureaucracy, and improbable coincidence collide with remarkable regularity.
At its heart is the Narrativium system, created specifically for life on the Disc. Using the standard seven-dice polyset (d4 to d20), the rules are designed to stay out of the way whenever the story demands it. They’re fast, flexible, and occasionally optional (much like many of Ankh-Morpork’s civic regulations). Whether you’re chasing a lead through the Shades, negotiating with Guild officials, fleeing from something with more legs than seems reasonable, or accidentally saving the city, the focus remains firmly on the tale being told.
In Ankh-Morpork you’ll discover a city where every street has a story and every day presents fresh opportunities to become famous, infamous, or a brief footnote in a Watch report. So gather your companions and take to the cobbles, because in a city this alive, adventure has a habit of finding you first!
The 295-page, full colour, digest size (242mm x 162mm) core rulebook features:
- The complete Narrativium rules system, purpose-built for Discworld - Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, plus guidance for gamemasters crafting stories worthy of the Disc.
- Full character creation rules and five pregenerated Thieves Guild characters for players who want to hit the streets running.
- A tour of selected locations and organisations of Ankh-Morpork, from the hallowed halls of the Unseen University to the uneasy streets of the Shades, and on to Sator Square, the Guilds of Ankh-Morpork, and The Patrician’s Palace.
- Profiles of some of the city’s most notable and notorious faces such as Archchancellor Mustrum Ridcully, the Librarian, Rincewind, Commander Vimes, and Lord Havelock Vetinari.
- An NPC generator for creating fresh faces to populate the city, from ordinary citizens to exceptional nuisances.
-
Bad Eggs in the Big City, a 50-page introductory adventure packed with all the mischief and civic complications one might reasonably expect from an average day in Ankh-Morpork.
