"In the beginning, there was meat. A decaying chunk of flesh from a dying god, hurtling through the void of space, thousands of miles wide. A million eyes, a billion hands grasping for purchase against nothingness itself. This is where we live.
We Meatworlders are resourceful people. While your world was rich in metals, ours was not. We were given flesh, and so flesh we used. We became skilled in the act of meatallurgy, bending the living forces of nature to our will. It is a dangerous art, and an unnerving one to behold, but I think you’ll find the results to be worth it. After all, we live in a dangerous world. It’s only right that we become dangerous ourselves.
The other thing you should know about Meatworld, is… There’s no good way to put this. A while back, the sun disappeared."
Dora Godkiller’s first cross-dimensional transmission, 1993
EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is a tabletop roleplaying game where you’ll play as a gang of queer antifascists in a strange place called Meatworld. Spinning through space on the screaming corpse of a dead god under the glow of an absent sun, the people of Meatworld harvest its flesh to make their technology.
That tech includes meatmechs, giant flesh suits you can pilot. You’ve got one of these mechs, which is just as well, because Meatworld is full of monsters, old gods, a land that wants to eat you alive and so, so many fucking Nazis.
You’ll play to bash the fash, explore the weirdness that is Meatworld, attack and dethrone god(s), solve mysteries like a gore dripping Scooby Gang, deal with trauma, and if you’re lucky, make out with your friends.
Based on the cult videogame series that Rock Paper Shotgun described as “Raw, bloody, tough, and not the slightest bit concerned with civility” and Wired called “Wild, melancholy, funny, and willing to take absolutely none of your shit”, Extreme Meatpunks Forever: The Roleplaying Game is written by videogame creator Heather Flowers and cult TTRPG creator Aura Belle, and brought to you by Sinister Beard Games, publishers of Quietus and Night Reign.
EXREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is a Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) game, meaning its rules are based on the same framework that powers popular indie games like Monster of the Week, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Blades in the Dark and Masks: A New Generation. It's a complete game - everything you need to run it is included in the book (other than some ride or die comrades).
Like the videogame that inspired it, EMF switches between intense brawling fight scenes where your meatmechs clash with fascists, cryptids, demons and old gods, and intense emotional scenes where you deal with the fallout with your gang.
Brawls bring a level of tactical play not usually seen in PbtA along with its trademark cinematic action. Build your mech from a huge list of options and weapons, including Thousandfingers, Excellent Seasoning, a Big Stick What Has Shrapnel In It, and the one and only Deathfucker Cannon. Work with your gang to outmanoeuvre the assholes you're rumbling with and pick the perfect moment to finish them.
Baring your soul or blowing off steam is the only way to heal or repair your mech, so you'll end up in a beautifully raw game loop of investigating mysteries, which lead to fights, which lead to heartfelt emotional shit, and onto more mysteries. You'll barely have time to breathe.
EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is over 200 pages of squelching, grinding goodness. It contains everything you need to get playing straight away, including:
-
An expanded guide to Meatworld written by Heather Flowers, featuring the lore, monsters and all round weirdness of Meatworld from the videogames and beyond! What's a Murderhorse? Which brave souls live in Tornado Valley? Why does the convenience store clerk have a face like static from a dead TV and a name that sounds like the screaming of a billion dead stars? Find out!
-
Superfast character creation. Using Powered by the Apocalypse's playbook system, you can have an iconic Meatpunks character up and running in minutes.
-
Rules for building you own custom mech. Scratching that old school superhero rpg itch (or is that some sort of quasi-intelligent fungal infection on the back of your neck?), you'll find more customisation options for your meatmech than you can shake a big stick what has shrapnel in it at.
-
Quickstart scenarios! A bunch of quickstart mysteries to get you into the bizarre and bitingly funny world of EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER so fast you'll be knee deep in Faceless People and middle-managers whose eyes burn with the light of the stolen sun while you're still wondering what that viscous green drink was back at the flying bar and grill.
