THE ISLES OF CARCATOU HAVE NO OWNER...
Merfolk, sailors, and pirates create messy entanglements while fighting with their allies and falling in love with their enemies all as they try to claim or preserve the independence of a remote chain of islands in the middle of the sea.
Based on the amazing Mobile Frame Zero: Firebrands by Vincent and Meguey Baker, One Particular Harbor is a game about a remote chain of islands, the lives of those who find themselves there, and their fight to either keep the islands independent or claim them on behalf of the sovereign they represent.
Choose your faction - the merfolk, noble guardians who can trade their fins for legs at their whim, the pirates who treat the islands as a place of rest and tentative peace between voyages, or the Royal Navy who seek to claim the island in the name of their queen - and play out your story; fighting (and flirting) to determine the fate of the islands.
One Particular Harbor consists of fourteen minigames:
- Solitaire Take time alone. What did you do? What have people heard?
- A Lively Debate State your position and try to sway the masses to your side.
- Pursuit Pursue your quarry, by land or by sea.
- A Verbal Confrontation Tensions mount and accusations are flung - is reconciliation an option?
- A Conversation Over Food Share a meal…and maybe more.
- Through the Grapevine The rumor mill never stops churning.
- A Dance The best things happen when you’re dancing, or so they say. Will you prove them wrong?
- A Salvage Mission What treasures can you pull from the depths?
- A Battle at Sea Your ships face each other on the waters - who will survive?
- A Duel When words no longer work, it is time for swords.
- Fighting Back to Back Stand shoulder to shoulder and face your foes. Together.
- Stealing Time Together Share intimate time with someone - always asking “May I?”
- A Nighttime Swim Anything can happen in the sea beneath the stars.
- An Expedition What will you discover? And will you return safely once you’ve found it?
Use these games to tell the story of your characters and their factions as you create messy entanglements - you can fight (with swords OR words) or share intimate time with allies and enemies alike, or launch yourself into an all-out battle at sea! The choice is yours!
One Particular Harbor is GMless, requires no prep and no materials other than the game text and a coin to toss and can be played as a one shot for groups of 3-5 players in a few hours.
